| Project Name | Qingdao International Health Eco-Valley |
| Client Positioning | To create a high-end health industry cluster integrating medical services, eldercare, and technology research and development. |
| Core Challenge | Balancing Green Health Demands with Architectural Energy Consumption Control. As an eco-health project, it requires extremely high standards for daylighting, view, temperature, and sound insulation. Conventional curtain walls cannot meet the project's high-standard energy-saving targets. |
| Project Goal | To construct a modern, healthy building with high quality, low energy consumption, and high comfort, meeting the China Green Building 3-Star Standard. |
To meet the rigorous eco and energy demands of the Health Eco-Valley, we chose high-performance, all-tempered Insulated Glass Units (IGU) as the core facade solution, implementing differentiated designs based on various functional areas.
We utilized Low-E coated glass supplied by Xinyi Group, offering core values such as:
Excellent Thermal Insulation: The Low-E film efficiently reflects long-wave infrared heat radiation, blocking outdoor heat in summer and retaining indoor heat in winter.
Superior Daylighting: Ensures ample natural light transmission, providing a healthy and comfortable illumination environment for medical, eldercare, and R&D spaces.
Safety and Durability: The all-tempered glass structure guarantees high safety and resistance to wind pressure for the facade.
To maximize energy efficiency and comfort, we implemented precise glass configurations for the main building areas:
| Zone/Type | Area | Glass Configuration (mm) | Core Advantages |
| Zone I (Core R&D/Office) | Approx. 8000 square meters | 5 Low-E Xinyi + 12a + 5 + 12a + 5 All-Tempered IGU | Triple-Glazed Dual-Cavity Structure: Provides exceptional thermal and acoustic insulation, meeting the stability requirements of high-precision R&D environments. |
| Zone II (Eldercare/Public Services) | Approx. 6000 square meters | 6 Low-E Xinyi + 12a + 6 + 12a + 6 All-Tempered IGU | Extra-Thick Triple-Glazed Dual-Cavity Structure: Higher strength and superior noise reduction effects, creating an extremely tranquil and comfortable recovery environment for elderly residents. |
Through precise selection and implementation of the glass facade, the Qingdao International Health Eco-Valley project achieved improvements in building energy efficiency and environmental comfort that significantly exceeded expectations:
The overall curtain wall’s Thermal Transmittance (U-Value) is significantly lower than traditional double-glazed IGU. It is estimated that the heating/cooling load demand was reduced by over 30% compared to local standard configurations. This not only saves operational costs for the client but also aligns perfectly with the "Eco-Valley" green concept.
The eldercare center area, using the 6 Low-E + 12a + 6 + 12a + 6 configuration, achieved an Acoustic Reduction (Rw) standard suitable for high performance. Even with nearby traffic or equipment operation, the indoor acoustic environment remains at a healing-grade quiet level, creating an ideal space for patient recovery and residence.
The Low-E coating effectively blocks over 70% of Ultraviolet (UV) radiation, reducing damage to indoor furniture and medical equipment. Simultaneously, abundant natural light (high Visible Light Transmittance) enhances the comfort, mental health, and productivity of occupants.
The success of the Qingdao International Health Eco-Valley proves the critical value of customized high-performance facade solutions in achieving ultra-low energy buildings.
